I told Sonny that for the first time in my life I wish I was filthy, stinking rich. I’d buy and/or hire every helicopter I could and send them to Puerto Rico to deliver water to our fellow citizens. I believe that this is a situation in which no one should have to pay for water and that it’s unconscionable that our government hasn’t already provided that basic necessity to everyone in this disaster. The little island is only 35 miles wide by 100 miles long and only 1150 miles from Florida. Stetson Lawrence just drove Jess from New York City to Bismarck, ND (1625 miles) in 26 hours. These people have been without water for 8 days!

Ranch work
Can’t get the video of working cattle to publish so until I can, thought I’d share a photo of Sonny and Gumbo. Only thing better than working cattle horseback is doing the work with Sonny! This other photo shows a tiny bit of Windsor, my filly, too. Those are her ears! She’s doing the work while Sonny’s just sitting there looking pretty-

Writing and Riding
Busy season on the ranch as we’ve been preconditioning calves around rain, harvesting alfalfa seed and hauling cattle cake. No complaints on delays due to rain!
Still writing, too. After first edit of Magpie Fall, I decided I needed a few more chapters and am almost done with that – with another full review to follow. Have made contact with two self publishing companies with discussions to follow.
Quilt Photo
Red, black, white ladybug quilt is a kit – cuddly soft. The applique horse, cow, goat, sheep, dog, kitten, chicken and butterfly one is my own design.
Fall with a Vengeance
It’s been a shock to go from 96 to 46 and tee shirts to long underwear within 10 days! But love the fall colors, crisp mornings and lots of time horseback working cattle.

Editing & Quilting
Printed Magpie Fall for the first time and busy editing – adding chapters, revising, deleting… Around editing, I’ve finished two baby quilts and started another quilt for Sonny’s upcoming birthday.
Sorry no quilt photos. We’re really challenged these days by internet problems. Grrrr. I’ll post photos when I get to town and have reliable internet service.
Publishing
Been researching self publishing possibilities for the novels. Have to decide between digitally published, paper published or both. I like to hold a book in my hands when I buy one but love checking digital novels out of Montana Library 2Go. Decisions, decisions…but such is life! I’d love to have an agent hold my hand through the process, but know that’s unlikely until I have an audience or reputation. How about some feedback on this major issue? Love to have your input.
Excerpt from First Novel
Check it out!
I just put the first chapter of my novel Magpie Summer on my web site. Find it in Books (Unpublished), then select Magpie Summer Excerpt on the drop down menu.
After you read the chapter, please leave a comment on my website Contact page or on my Facebook page. Can’t wait to hear your comments! Remember, since I haven’t published yet I could still incorporate suggestions…
